In 2023, we kept 30 million gallons of sewage out of Honduras' coastal waters, thanks to innovative wastewater management with Polo’s Water Association and with the support of MAR Fund 🚫🌊 Why does it matter? Because clean water means healthy, thriving coral reefs 🪸Catch all the details in our 2023 Impact Report 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02psX4R0

We know for a fact corals need healthy fish populations to survive 🐠That's why we're proud to stand with the Stop Funding Overfishing Coalition at such a crucial time. This week, the World Trade Organization's 13th Ministerial Conference takes center stage, presenting a pivotal opportunity to address and end the subsidies fueling overfishing. The stakes couldn't be higher for our oceans and the communities that depend on them 🌊Harmful subsidies are a green light for unsustainable fishing practices that devastate fish populations and undermine the health of our oceans. It's time for change. The @WorldTradeOrganization has the power to steer us towards sustainable seas by ratifying the agreement to #StopFundingOverfishing at #MC13 🙌Join us in this critical moment. Learn more, spread the word, and let's make a difference together. Learn why this matters and how you can be part of the solution 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02mx22Q0

Did you know lobsters and conchs are the reef's very own cleanup crew? They're out there managing algae populations to prevent the overgrowth that threatens our coral communities. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it, ensuring the balance that supports coral survival and prosperity 🦞🪸But here's the thing...overfishing and insufficient regulations have put their populations at risk. That's why our Western Caribbean team is rolling out advanced fisheries research and management strategies specifically for lobster and conch conservation. Learn more about the important relationship between lobsters, conchs, and reef ecosystems for a healthier reef future 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02mpM450📷: David Baker, Shane Gross, Antonio Busiello

Sea turtles might not strike you as the ocean's big-time helpers, but trust us, they're doing more than just floating around looking adorable. Take hawksbill turtles, for example. These guys munch on sea sponges like there's no tomorrow. Without them, sponges could overrun coral reefs, pushing out the corals and disrupting the homes of countless marine species 🐢And let's not forget about the leatherback turtles. By feasting on jellyfish, leatherbacks play a crucial role in keeping their populations in check. This is a big win for the ocean's food chain, ensuring that jellyfish don't deplete fish stocks, which so many other creatures (including us!) rely on for food and livelihood 🐠So, next time you spot a sea turtle, remember they're not just cruising the ocean for fun. They're vital players in maintaining the health and balance of our marine ecosystems 🪸Learn more about the dynamic relationship between sea turtles and coral reefs: https://hubs.la/Q02lQgKf0📷: Ocean Image Bank, Getty Images, TIME for Kids
