Grant W. Hunter. I use a process to evaluate every such feature AND new product request that I get. (I work in both hardware and software). The evaluation looks at multiple factors within markets, competition situation, internal capabilities, and financials to determine whether the feature/product adds sufficient value to be worth the time.

I was working with a client on Personas today, and there were a lot of discussions on influencer personas.Luckily, this weekend I saw this video from Canva Enteprirse.https://lnkd.in/gUw8pXCMI know this has been getting a lot of flack, but some good learning. This video tells me Canva has realized that there is an influencer buyer persona: the Enterprise CIO! (or easily the CISO).This video may be 'cringe' for some, but for me, it is showing they are addressing a key buyer persona in their growth strategy.#productmanagement #buyerpersona

On a walk yesterday, something hit me. While I see product management everywhere, I am not always thinking about product management.During the walk I was thinking about how I am struggling to meet my writing goals for this year. The reality is I do my best writing in the moment when something inspires me, or more likely when something irks me. I try to keep writing, just to write, but it is tough as I often struggle to determine what to write about. Yes, there are tons of things I can write on, but I struggle to find something I can give a unique perspective on, something that can be valuable to the readers. Sort of "water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink."The interesting thing is, those in the moment posts clearly resonate better (more engagement).I am interested to learn from others. Steve Johnson Nils Davis Greg Prickril Zach Messler Richard Samela May Wong How do you decide your topics? Are they in the moment or planned? When you have epiphanies or are inspired in the moment, do you write it right away or do you take a note and come back to it?I want to get better. No, my goal is not to optimize number of posts (feature factory), but to optimize the value readers get from my posts (value-creation).As I try to figure this out, I am also try different mediums, so stay tuned.

A long time ago (16 years to be exact), I read a great eBook written by my partner Steve Johnson on the strategic role of product management which introduced the idea of the Product Management Triad. In summary, there are three core roles in product management:✔️ A strategy role, sometimes the head of product (whatever the title), sometimes a product or portfolio lead, sometimes a CEO/founder. ✔️ A planning or technical role, sometimes a technical product manager, sometimes a product owner, sometimes a business analyst.✔️ A growth/go-to-market role, sometimes a growth product manager, sometimes a product marketing manager. In our Product Conversations we have had many conversations on the strategy and planning roles, but few on the go-to-market role.We are starting our path to changing that this week, with our topic Go-to-Market.Share your thoughts on this week's question, and perhaps get asked to join our panel on Friday.#productmanagement #productmarketing #gotomarket
