A couple of times now I've tried to get into the habit of sharing a bit more regularly what we've been watching. I don't know about you but I often struggle with what to watch when one show ends... I try many shows and often get just an episode or a season in before I end up giving up on it.
Most of the shows we stream are NOT new shows. I tend to look for shows that have multiple seasons already lined up so once I get invested in the characters and storylines I don't have to wait around for new episodes to come out (but there are some shows we do watch as they air).
There have been a few shows we've really enjoyed lately.
Royal Pains is our latest show we're watching and while we're only 1/2 way through season 2 I am really enjoying it: Hank is a doctor that has retreated to the Hamptons to lick his wounds after losing his job, his fiancée, and most of his belongings. While there he gets hired on as a concierge doctor to the rich; a job he very reluctantly takes on.
Silicon Valley is one series we've recently finished in its entirety and while I can't say I loved the ending I really enjoyed the 6 seasons of will they/ wont they. Richard and his friends are trying to strike it rich in Silicon Valley with their latest tech invention but competition is fierce and sometimes they are the very reason they aren't succeeding. Socially awkward and incredibly quirky we thought this was a riot. It is rated R mostly for language, drug use, and drinking.
We Were the Lucky Ones-- I read the book years ago so I knew I was going to end up watching this 8 episode mini series. It's heartbreaking to watch since it centers around a large Jewish family living in Poland at the start of the second world war. Since I couldn't really remember much about the actual book I was on the edge of my seat anticipating what might happen next.
Resident Alien-- I honestly thought this was going to be such a stupid show and I rolled my eyes when my husband started watching it. I was reading a book on the couch so I didn't really care... but I found myself getting sucked in and it really made me laugh at times. The show does more and more far fetched as the series goes on so I really enjoyed the first season the most but it was definitely something different. An alien crash lands on Earth and takes over the body of a man living in the cabin in the woods but the man turns out to be the town doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle so he bumbles through the job and makes a few friends and enemies along the way.
Tracker--Colton Shaw roams the United States in his Airstream trailer using his tracking skills to help people out for the reward money they post. Each episode involves some type of mystery and Colton always manages to get to the bottom of it.
Ghosts and Ghosts UK-- I lumped these together because these two shows are actually quite similar. In each a young couple inherits an old house and decide to fix it up to turn into a B&B/inn. In both shows the woman somehow hits their heads and are knocked unconscious. When they wake up they can see ghosts. Turns out both houses are haunted with ghosts from a variety of eras who have all learned to live with one another. It's actually quite cute and quirky. I prefer the American version but that might just be because that's the one I started watching first and (again) the shows are very similar so by the time I started watching the UK version it felt quite redundant.
I'm still rewatching all the old Modern Family, Cougar Town, and Friends episodes; I feel like I seesaw between this line up of old show to binge and then move to Grace and Frankie, Schitt's Creek, and Life in Pieces

- Not Dead Yet-- an obit writer that sees and hears the people she's been assigned to write about
- Abbott Elementary-- Following along with elementary school teachers in a very poor district
- 9-1-1-- The show written about LA first responders and has already been picked up for an 8th season. Some of the episodes are quite far fetched though..
- The Rookie-- On it's 6th season this show focuses on John Nolan and his friends as they patrol as LAPD police officers.
- The Conners-- A spinoff of the old Roseann show I grew up watching
- Jeopardy Masters
- Celebrity Wheel of Fortune
I've also watched a few really enjoyable movies too:
The Idea of You (prime)-- A 40 year old mom falls in love with a 20-something year old band singer. I found myself rooting for them despite their age difference (though I fully admit that I would not be so understanding if it was MY 20-something year old dating a 40 year old).
P.S. I Love You -- I don't know how I had never heard or seen of this movie before but I enjoyed it so much that I downloaded the book it was based on. Gerry dies and leaves a series of letters for his wife to help her through her grief; ending each letter with a P. S. I love you. It was sweet and sad and we see lots of flashbacks of their lives together and how she is coping with moving on after she's lost the love of her life.
One True Loves-- I had read this book by Taylor Jenkins Reid and really enjoyed it so I was excited to watch the movie. Emma and Jesse have a wonderful life together until the day he goes missing. 4 years later as Emma is about to marry her best friend Jesse comes back and Emma is stuck between her two great loves, her past and her future, and has to pick.
Mother of the Bridge-- A cute and very improbable little rom-com. When Lana's daughter unexpectedly announces she's getting married Lana does everything she can to be supportive. However, she is totally unprepared for the groom's father to be the very man that broke her heart many years ago.
