saimfield mamtoulin island deaths mics alex logan the people of slouffvllle were saddened this past weekend by the premature death of lillian logan in her 3sih year lillian shannon came from england at fourteen years of age and made her home with mr and mis harvey mover at dicksons hill in a very short time she won a iermanent place in the hearts of all who met her gay and full of fun witli a sin cere interest in everyone she soon had a wide circle of friends in her adopted country besides her h u s b a n d she leaves her two sons keith and neil as well as two sisters mrs jim clarke emily and mrs tom co*cking ivy of chester field england her hom*o and family were the centre of her life but she never lost an opportunity to help any neighbour or friend with practical christian faith she taught in the stouffville united church sunday school worked tirelessly for the wom ens organizations and for some time sang in the choir even in her illness she constantly thought of little ways by which she could show her apprecia tion for all that her friends tried to do for her she never com plained in fact she met all her visitors with a smile in the service rev douglas davis emphasized that others must now take on the christian work which she was unable to complete the many beautiful floral tributes and the host of relatives and friends at the cha pel and graveside witnessed the esteem in which she and her husband and family are held in this community funeral service was held from oneills funeral parlors on monday at 330 interment in stouffville cemetery pallbear ers were close friends of the family jim harris jacob smith don middleton bob and clarence mcdowell and wilfred morlcv 2 1sc9 in whitchurch township and pased from this life on august 12 1961 in the brierbush hospital stouffville at 92 years of age he had liven and farmed most of his lif in the markham- slouffville area having moved here with his parents at two years of age he was uniquely privileged to share life with his companion for over g6 years having mar ried mary ellen meyer january 30 1895 to this union was born one daughter magdalene mrs albert hoover besides his wife and daughter he is sur vived by one sister esther mrs will wideman one brother and three sisters and a soninlaw predeceased him on may 2 1s9g with his wife he was baptised and united with the wideman mennonite church where he remained a member until death funeral service was held from the residence of the late mr hoover on monday aug 11 130 pm with burial in wideman mennonite church cemetery near markham weddinqs mr steve jones of scarbor ough is holidaying at the home of his uncle cecil smurthwaite and family ninth line north the ross mcguckin family held a reunion at the stouff ville park on sunday afternoon when 3g members were present the occasion was to celebrate mr mcguckins birthday mrs isabel kent kathryn and paul of toronto joined their cousins for the picnic others were present from mt albert ux- bridge hartman and sandford mrs walter kent and paul are spending a couple weeks holiday witli mrs helen dewitt carl harper passes suddenly in 43rd year on thursday aug 19th mr carl harper a former stouff ville district resident and late of g wortham drive toronto passed away suddenly in the scarboro general hospital he was stricken ill while at work and died a short time later he was in his 13rd year the deceased was the son of the late mr and mrs charles harper cone 9 markham he is survived by his wife kath leen three daughters sandra fern and gale and a sister mrs vera wagg of mount albert the funeral service was held from the chapel of mcdougall and brown kingston road on kaiiii hoover saturday morning with inter- ralph hoover was born may i incut in pine hills cemetery iiaxsanbaekv pink and white gladioli graced the altar and sanctuary of st monicas church on saturday august 5th when margaret bev erly daughter of mr and mrs james barry was united in marriage with francis charles hannan son of mr and mrs charles hannan of toronto rev father madigan officiated and choir boys from st mich aels cathedral sang softly dur ing the ceremony the bride given in marriage by her father wore a floor length gown of pure white peau de soie featuring a sab- rina neckline elbow length sleeves and a back fullness which swept into a cathedral train her fingertip veil was held in place by a pillbox cap of matching peau de soie she carried a cascade bouquet of white loses mums and trailing ivy her attendants miss kay hannan as maid of honour mrs norman cox and miss pat barry as bridesmaids were dressed alike in sky blue bro cade sheaths with matching bell shaped overskirts they wore headdresses of blue net topped with a matching french rose and carried cascade bouquets of pink roses glads stephanotis and trailing ivy blue satin shoes completed their costume mr frank sweeney of sud bury was best man and mr joe hannan of scarboro and mr paul barry of agincourt were ushers the brides mother received the guests at a reception at merimoor manor on markham road she wore a delphinium blue lace sheath with pink hat and gloves and a corsage of pink roses mrs john fitzpatrick sister of the groom assisted mrs bar ry in receiving the guests in the absence of mrs charles hannan who was unable to at tend owing to illness she wore a pink flowered peau de soie sheath with a matching full length coat white accessories and a corsage of white mums completed her costume for her trip to the lauren- tians and montreal the bride wore a printed pure silk two- piece sheath in shades of green and beige a green hat and bone accessories she wore a corsage of flame coloured roses and glads on their return mr and mrs hannan will live in toron to ther assisted wearing a lilac
