UCI Riders Ranking Update | Remco Evenepoel out of podium; Adam Yates re-enters Top10 after Tour de Suisse win (2024)

The Tour de Suisse headlined this week's UCI Rankings points update. The likes of Adam Yates and João Almeida climbed significantly whilst the loss of last year's edition's points saw Remco Evenepoel and Juan Ayuso tumble down the standings.

The rankings continue to be led by Tadej Pogacar (9663 points) followed by Jonas Vingegaard (5240 points). These two spots remained unchanged, but in number 3 we now have Jasper Philipsen who scored a few points at the Baloise Belgium Tour, who benefited from Remco Evenepoel's downfall. Not a literal downfall, but Evenepoel has lost the points he won at last year's Tour de Suisse and so descended from third to sixth in the standings. Mathieu van der Poel and Mads Pedersen also took his place and now sit fourth and fifth. You can check the previous update.

I seventh we now have Adam Yates who for a long period of time sat in such position, but descended last week. He re-enters the Top10 after winning the Tour de Suisse, conquering almost 800 points and rising from 12th to 7th. Primoz Roglic is now eighth followed by Marc Hirschi and Alekandr Vlasov. All three kept their positions, as they overtook Juan Ayuso who descended from 7th to 12th (ironically, directly switching places with his teammate). Ayuso also just lost his points from last year's Suisse result.

In Suisse, João Almeida's second place earned him a climb all the way from 69th to 34th, the biggest of the week within the best. Egan Bernal had similar improvement, rising from 98th to 66th and solidifying himself once again amongst the best in cycling. Tom Pidco*ck went from 38th to 29th and Enric Mas from 61st to 49th as noteworthy mentions.

This week we also had the Tour of Slovenia finishing. Giovanni Aleotti won the GC but hasn't broken into the Top100, but second placed Pello Bilbao climbed from 20th to 17th. At the Baloise Belgium Tour Soren Waerenskjold's victory led to an interesting result. The Norwegian actually lost points in comparison to the past update, he also finished second in the Belgian race last year, but despite this climbed from 73rd to 71st.
